Robomowers

Robomowers

Robomowers are robotic lawn mowers that cut grass on their own and return to a charging station when the battery runs low. Our range of over 20 models suits owners of private gardens who would rather not push a mower themselves. Leading brands include ECOVACS, Segway Navimow, Roborock and Airseekers.

How to choose a robotic lawn mower

Lawn size. Manufacturers state a maximum working area for each model. Choose one with some margin, because a mower running close to its limit needs longer to finish, and a lawn with awkward corners or narrow passages reduces the real capacity further.

Navigation and boundaries. Traditional robotic mowers need a boundary wire laid around the lawn. Some newer models use RTK satellite positioning or cameras instead, and the boundaries are drawn in an app. RTK works best in open surroundings, since dense tree canopy and tall buildings can weaken the signal.

Slopes and obstacles. Check the maximum slope the mower can handle and whether it has all-wheel drive, which helps on inclines and damp grass. If your garden has flower beds, trees or children's toys, obstacle detection sensors matter too.

Cutting settings and security. Look at the cutting height range, a rain sensor, scheduling in the app and anti-theft features such as a PIN code or a lift sensor. Most robotic mowers run more quietly than petrol mowers, so they can work in the early morning or evening.

Brands in our range

  • ECOVACS: better known for its Deebot robot vacuums, and it offers the GOAT line in robotic lawn mowers.
  • Segway Navimow: its robotic mowers are known for boundaries set in an app using satellite positioning, with no boundary wire.
  • Mammotion: focuses specifically on robotic mowers, and its LUBA series also relies on RTK navigation.
  • Roborock: best known for robot vacuums with reliable indoor mapping, and it brings that experience to outdoor equipment.

Also in our range: Airseekers, MOVA and Anker eufy.

Robotic lawn mower FAQ

Does a robotic lawn mower need a boundary wire?

Not always. Classic models do not work without one, but newer robots use RTK satellite positioning or cameras, and the boundaries are drawn in an app. If your garden has dense tree cover, a wire can still be the more stable solution.

What size of lawn suits a robotic mower?

Choose a model whose stated maximum area is larger than your lawn. A little spare capacity lets the mower finish the job within normal working hours. Also consider the shape of the lawn, since narrow passages and many obstacles make mowing take longer.

Can a robotic mower work in the rain?

Most models are built to withstand rain, and many have a rain sensor that sends them back to the station when it starts. Wet grass is harder to cut and clumps more, so the finish may suffer. Check the exact protection rating and behaviour in the description of the model you choose.

How do you maintain a robotic mower?

Clean grass from the underside and wheels regularly, and replace the blades from time to time, because blunt blades tear grass instead of cutting it. In winter most manufacturers recommend storing the mower indoors with the battery partly charged. Exact requirements are in the manufacturer's manual.
