Computer Components

The computer components category covers server parts, memory, storage drives, graphics cards, networking equipment and cabling. It suits anyone upgrading or repairing a PC, building an office network or maintaining a server rack. Our range includes over 150 models, and the most common manufacturers are HPE, DIGITUS, MikroTik, Ubiquiti and Kingston.

How to choose a computer component

Compatibility. Start with the processor socket, motherboard form factor, memory type (DDR4 or DDR5) and available connectors. Server parts often differ from desktop ones: servers commonly use ECC memory, for example, which most consumer motherboards do not support. Check the manufacturer's compatibility list for your exact model.

Purpose and workload. A home or office PC is fine with ordinary memory modules and drives, while a server that runs around the clock is better served by parts designed for servers. Choose a graphics card according to the job: gaming, 3D work and compute tasks call for different amounts of video memory and cooling.

Interfaces and speed. NVMe SSDs running over PCIe are usually much faster than SATA drives, but they need an M.2 or PCIe slot. For networking, 1 Gbps is enough for most homes and small offices, while 2.5 Gbps, 10 Gbps or SFP+ ports help when you move large files or link servers and storage.

Power, cooling and space. A graphics card needs a power supply with enough capacity, the right power connectors and room in the case. For rack-mounted equipment, check the height (U) and depth, since server hardware is often quite noisy.

Network management. MikroTik RouterOS allows very detailed configuration but expects some technical knowledge. Ubiquiti UniFi devices can be managed from a single application, which makes getting started simpler. Choose according to how much time and experience you have for setup.

Brands in our range

  • HPE: maker of ProLiant servers, so its memory, drives and other parts are mostly intended for HPE servers.
  • DIGITUS: known for cables, patch panels and other accessories for structured cabling.
  • MikroTik: a Latvian manufacturer whose routers and switches run on RouterOS.
  • Ubiquiti: UniFi access points, switches and routers designed to be managed as one network.
  • Kingston: memory modules and SSDs for desktops, laptops and servers.
  • NVIDIA: developer of graphics cards and GPUs used for gaming as well as compute workloads.
  • Supermicro: server motherboards, chassis and other server hardware.
  • Lenovo, Dell and HP: business PC and server makers, whose parts are often needed to extend or repair existing equipment.
  • TP-Link: home and small office networking, such as routers and Wi-Fi access points.

Also in our range: EXTRALINK.

Frequently asked questions

How does server memory differ from ordinary memory?

Server memory is often ECC, which detects and corrects single-bit data errors. Some modules are also registered, and most consumer motherboards do not support those. Check the specification of your motherboard or server before buying.

Is an NVMe SSD always faster than SATA?

Usually, yes, because the PCIe interface allows much higher speeds than SATA. In everyday tasks such as browsing or office work, though, the difference is not always noticeable. You also need a free M.2 or PCIe slot that supports NVMe.

What network speed do I need at home or in a small office?

1 Gbps is enough for most homes and small offices. Choose 2.5 Gbps or 10 Gbps if you often move large files, run a backup server or use several servers. SFP+ ports with fibre are also an option in that case.

How can I tell whether a component will fit my computer?

Find the exact model of your motherboard or server and check the manufacturer's compatibility list. Then compare the socket, memory type, interface, physical size and power connectors. If any one of these does not match, the part may not work or may not fit.
