Games and construction sets

Games and construction sets

The Games category covers building brick sets, jigsaw puzzles, board games, collectable miniatures, model kits and toy vehicles. It suits children, families and adult hobbyists. LEGO, Ravensburger, Games Workshop and Bruder have the most products.

Our range includes over 1,900 items, from small puzzles to detailed collector sets.

How to choose a game or set

Age and difficulty. Follow the recommended age printed on the box: small parts are unsuitable for young children, while a set that is too simple soon bores an older child. For puzzles, check the piece count, and for building sets, the number of bricks.

Who will play and how. Board games are made for gatherings with friends or family, so check the number of players and the length of a single round. A puzzle, a model kit or miniature painting is better suited to quiet time on your own.

What else you will need. Many model kits and miniatures have to be glued and painted, and glue, paints and tools are usually bought separately. Remote-controlled models and racing tracks may need batteries or rechargeable packs, so find out before you order.

Scale and compatibility. When extending a collection, stick to the same system or scale. Bruder vehicles and Revell models are made to stated scales, and Games Workshop miniatures belong to a specific game system.

Frequently asked questions about games

How do I choose a LEGO set for a child?

Choose by the age printed on the box and by the child's building experience. Sets with fewer pieces suit beginners, while older children and adults can take on more complex ones. The piece count also gives a good idea of how long the build will take.

What do I need to start with Warhammer miniatures?

Games Workshop miniatures are usually sold unassembled and unpainted. You will need plastic glue, clippers or a hobby knife to remove parts, paints and brushes. A few miniatures are enough for a beginner to learn the basics.

What size of jigsaw puzzle should I buy?

Children and beginners do well with puzzles of a few hundred pieces, while experienced puzzlers often move to 1,000 pieces or more. Think about where you will assemble it before buying, as a large puzzle takes up a lot of table space.

Does a Tonies figure work without a Toniebox?

No, Tonies figures are made to be used with a Toniebox audio player, and they start playing when placed on it. Without one, the figure is simply a toy. Check that you already own a Toniebox before buying.
