Video editing and software keyboards are keyboards with shortcuts printed on the keys for specific applications, such as video editing, colour grading, graphics or audio. They suit editors, photographers, designers and anyone who works daily in complex software. Our range has over 40 models, all made by LogicKeyboard.
How to choose an editing keyboard
Software. Choose by the program you use most. Keyboards of this type are usually made for one application, such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Avid Media Composer or Adobe Photoshop, so the printed commands match that program's menus.
Operating system. These keyboards are often made in separate versions for Mac and Windows computers. The modifier keys differ: Mac uses Command and Option, Windows uses the Windows key and Alt. If the legends do not match your system, you lose much of the keyboard's benefit.
Size and layout. A full-size model with a number pad is handy if you enter timecodes or numbers often. A smaller keyboard leaves more desk space for a mouse, graphics tablet or control surface. Also check the character layout, as specialist keyboards do not always include Lithuanian letters.
Backlighting. Editing rooms are often dimmed, and backlit keys keep the printed symbols visible. If you work in a well-lit room, this feature matters less.
Connection. A wired USB keyboard needs no pairing or charging. A wireless one is more convenient if your desk setup changes often, but it needs charging or battery changes.

Frequently asked questions
How does an editing keyboard differ from a normal one?
The main difference is the shortcut legends printed on the keys for a specific program. You can type on it just like on any other keyboard. The benefit comes from no longer having to remember key combinations, which makes work faster.
Will a Mac keyboard work with a Windows computer?
Usually yes, because the main keys work the same way, but the modifier key labels will differ. The Command key acts as the Windows key on a Windows PC, so the printed symbols can be misleading. If you work on Windows, a Windows version is the better choice.
Does the keyboard only work with one program?
The legends are normally designed for one program, but the keyboard itself works with any software. In other programs the printed symbols may not match the actual commands, although letters and numbers behave as usual. If you use several programs, choose by the one you work in most often.
Is it worth buying one if I only edit occasionally?
For occasional editing it is not essential, as you can learn shortcuts on a standard keyboard. It pays off most when you spend many hours a week in the program. Beginners also find that the printed symbols help them learn the commands faster.
