Dust filters protect PC case fans, radiators and air vents from dust. They suit anyone who wants to clean the inside of a computer less often and keep the cooling parts free of build-up. Our range includes over 70 products, mostly from DEMCIFLEX, along with LIAN LI, SILVERSTONE and AKASA.
How to choose a dust filter for a PC case
Size and shape. Measure the opening or fan you want to cover before anything else. The most common fan sizes are 120 mm and 140 mm, but cases often have larger or rectangular openings at the front, top and bottom, so the filter must match the exact dimensions or be made for your case model.
Mounting method. Magnetic filters cling to a metal surface and come off without tools, which makes cleaning easy. Filters with a frame, clips or screws hold more firmly but take longer to remove. A magnet will not grip plastic or aluminium, so check what the opening in your case is made of.
Mesh density. A finer mesh traps more dust but adds airflow resistance, so fans may have to spin faster and louder. In a case with several fans a denser mesh rarely causes trouble. If cooling is already limited, an more open mesh is the safer choice.
Position in the case. Cover the intake openings first: the front, the bottom and the power supply inlet. Exhaust openings collect less dust, especially when the case runs with positive pressure, meaning more air is drawn in than pushed out.
Ease of cleaning. How often a filter needs cleaning depends on the room: dusty spaces or homes with pets mean more frequent work. Choose a filter you can remove and refit in a few seconds, otherwise cleaning tends to get put off.
Brands we carry
- DEMCIFLEX: known for dust filters made for specific cases, fans and radiators, which is why it makes up most of our range.
- LIAN LI: a maker of high-end aluminium cases, with filters designed for its own case models.
- SILVERSTONE: produces PC cases and power supplies, and its filters complement its case line.
- AKASA: known for cooling products such as CPU coolers and fans, so its filters fit naturally alongside air cooling parts.
Also in our range: KOLINK.
Frequently asked questions about dust filters
Does a PC need dust filters?
A PC works without them, but filters help. Dust settles on fan blades, radiators and the graphics card cooler, which over time weakens cooling and makes fans louder. A filter stops much of that dust before it gets inside.
How often should a dust filter be cleaned?
It depends on the room, but checking the filter every few weeks and cleaning it when needed is usually enough. The mesh should look clean, because a clogged filter blocks air from entering the case. A removable filter can be shaken out, blown clean with compressed air or rinsed with water and dried thoroughly.
Does a dust filter reduce cooling performance?
A clean filter has only a slight effect, as the mesh does restrict airflow a little. Poor cooling is usually down to a clogged filter or a very dense mesh on a single fan. If components start running hotter, clean the filters first.
Where should dust filters go in a PC case?
Filters matter most where air enters the case: front fans, the bottom panel and the power supply inlet. A top-mounted fan or radiator that draws air in needs one as well. Exhaust openings only need covering if you want to seal the inside completely.
