Apple Mac computers are desktop machines running macOS, suited to people who work or study in the Apple ecosystem, from office tasks to video and audio editing. Apple's desktop Mac family consists of the Mac mini, iMac and Mac Studio. Our range currently includes a small selection of Apple models.
How to choose an Apple Mac
Model type. The Mac mini is a small base unit without a screen, so you will need to add a monitor, keyboard and mouse. The iMac has a built-in display, which means one device is enough for a complete desk setup. The Mac Studio is aimed at heavier work such as video editing or 3D projects.
Processor. Current Macs run on Apple's own M-series chips, which combine the processor, graphics and unified memory in a single system. A base chip is enough for everyday browsing, documents and video calls. If you edit video or use demanding creative software, a higher-tier chip is worth considering.
Memory and storage. On Apple silicon Macs the unified memory and SSD storage generally cannot be upgraded later, so choose the sizes at purchase. Office work often needs less, while large video files, big photo libraries or virtual machines call for more memory and space. Running out of storage can be solved with an external SSD, but memory cannot be added afterwards.
Ports and peripherals. Check that there are enough Thunderbolt and USB-C ports, HDMI output and other connections for your monitor, external drives and accessories. Older USB-A devices may need an adapter or a hub, as the port layout differs between models.
Software. Make sure the programmes you rely on run on macOS before you buy. Most popular office, creative and development tools have macOS versions, but some specialist Windows programmes may need virtualisation or may not work at all.

Frequently asked questions about Apple Mac computers
What is the difference between the Mac mini, iMac and Mac Studio?
The main difference is form and purpose. The Mac mini is a small unit without a display, the iMac combines the computer and screen in one body, and the Mac Studio is built for demanding professional work. Choose by whether you already own a monitor and how much performance you need.
Can I upgrade the memory in a Mac later?
On Apple silicon Macs this is generally not possible, because the memory is part of the chip package. Pick the memory size at purchase, based on the software you expect to use over the next few years. Storage space can be extended with an external SSD.
Can a Mac run Windows programmes and games?
Not natively, as Macs use macOS. Some Windows programmes can be run through virtualisation or compatibility software, but this depends on the specific programme. There are fewer games for macOS than for Windows, so gamers should check that their favourite titles are supported first.
Do I need to buy a monitor with a Mac mini?
Yes, the Mac mini has no screen, so you need a monitor, keyboard and mouse. The monitor can be connected via HDMI or a Thunderbolt and USB-C port. If you prefer a single device with no extra cables on the desk, an iMac with its built-in display may suit you better.
