How to choose a projector
Light source. Our range includes laser, lamp and LED projectors. A lamp dims over time and has to be replaced, while a laser source lasts longer and needs no replacement. LED models tend to be smaller, which makes them easy to carry between rooms.
Resolution. XGA or WXGA is enough for slide presentations, but WUXGA (1920x1200) is more comfortable for documents and spreadsheets. For films and games, look at 1080p (1920x1080) or UHD 4K (3840x2160). An aspect ratio of 16:9 matches films, 16:10 gives extra height for work documents, and 4:3 is mostly needed for older content.
Projection technology. A DLP projector forms the image with a micromirror chip: the picture is sharp, but some people notice a rainbow effect. In 3LCD models three separate panels create the colours, so colours are even and there is no rainbow effect. Both technologies appear in our range.
Brightness and room. Brightness is measured in lumens. A bright office or classroom needs a brighter projector, while in a darkened cinema room contrast matters more than maximum brightness. Also check the throw distance, so that the image fits the screen from where you plan to place the projector.
Connections. Most of our models have one or two HDMI ports, and some have three or four. If you will connect both a laptop and a games console or media player, choose at least two HDMI ports. Many projectors have built-in speakers, but these are meant for a small room.
