Kids' tablets

Children's tablets are tablet computers adapted for younger users, with a protective case or reinforced body, parental controls and child-friendly content. Our range has more than 10 models, including tablets from BLACKVIEW, Amazon, BLOW and DENVER.

They suit videos, learning apps, reading, drawing and simple games.

How to choose a children's tablet

Drop protection. Children drop tablets all the time, so a thick rubber case or a reinforced body matters most. Check whether the case comes in the box or has to be bought separately. For smaller children, a case with handles or a built-in stand is easier to hold.

Operating system and parental controls. On Android tablets, content and screen time are usually managed through Google Family Link, while Amazon Fire tablets use Amazon Kids profiles. Keep in mind that Fire OS relies on the Amazon Appstore, so some apps from Google Play are not available there.

Screen size and weight. A tablet with a 7 to 8 inch screen is lighter and fits small hands, which makes it easier for a pre-schooler to handle. A school-age child who watches films and uses learning apps will be more comfortable with a screen of around 10 inches.

Storage, memory and battery. Games, apps and downloaded videos fill internal storage quickly, so a microSD card slot is useful. RAM affects how smoothly several apps run, and longer battery life matters on car journeys and long weekend evenings.

Brands we carry

  • BLACKVIEW: known for rugged phones and tablets with reinforced bodies, which helps when a child drops the device often.
  • Amazon: Fire tablets run Fire OS, and the kids' versions typically come with a thick protective case and ready-made child profiles.
  • Lenovo: Tab series tablets run Android, and some models support Google's child-friendly environment for learning and entertainment.

Also in our range: tablets from BLOW and DENVER.

Frequently asked questions about children's tablets

What age is a tablet suitable for?

Screens are best avoided for children under about 18 months. For older children, a tablet can be used in short, supervised sessions with age-appropriate content. Most children's tablets are aimed at pre-school and primary school ages.

How is a children's tablet different from a regular one?

A children's tablet usually has a protective case or reinforced body and ready-to-use parental controls. Technically it is the same kind of device, so the screen, memory and battery should be judged in the same way as on any other tablet.

Can I install my own apps on a children's tablet?

On Android tablets, apps are installed through Google Play, and parents can choose which ones are allowed. Amazon Fire tablets use the Amazon Appstore, which does not carry every Google Play app. Check that the apps you need are available there before buying.

How can I limit my child's screen time on a tablet?

The simplest way is to switch on parental controls: Google Family Link on Android tablets or Amazon Kids on Fire tablets. They let you set a daily time limit, choose allowed apps and lock the device at bedtime.
