NUC / Mini PCs

NUC and mini PCs are small desktop computers for home and office work, media playback and creative tasks. Our range includes over 400 models, among them systems from ASUS, HP, Apple (Mac mini), MSI, GMKtec and Minisforum. Some come with Windows 11 installed, while others are sold without an operating system.

How to choose a mini PC

Processor. For everyday office work, browsing and video calls, an Intel Core 5 or Intel Core Ultra 5 is enough. Intel Core Ultra 7 and Core Ultra 9 make more sense for video editing, virtual machines or heavier calculations. Our range also includes systems with AMD, Qualcomm and Nvidia processors.

Memory and storage. Check the maximum memory a model supports: in our range it runs from 8 to 128 GB, with models topping out at 32, 64 and 96 GB along the way. 16 GB usually covers office use, while virtual machines and large projects call for more. Some mini PCs have soldered memory, so confirm whether it can be upgraded before you buy.

Ports and displays. Our range includes models with one or two HDMI ports, and some have none, so the picture has to go out through other connections such as USB-C or DisplayPort. If you plan to run several monitors, check this in advance. Also count the USB-A ports you need for a keyboard, mouse and external drive, as the number varies a lot.

Operating system. You will find models with Windows 11 Pro, Windows 11 Home, ChromeOS or Linux, as well as units with no system at all. Windows 11 Pro adds management and security features that businesses tend to need, while a model without an operating system suits buyers who already hold a licence or plan to install Linux. Some Nvidia-based devices ship with DGX OS, which is aimed at AI development.

Cooling and workload. A small case sheds heat less easily, so faster processors may slow down under long loads. If the PC will run all day or under heavy use, choose a model with better cooling and look at the noise level the manufacturer states.

Frequently asked questions about mini PCs

What is a NUC computer?

NUC (Next Unit of Computing) is a small-computer format created by Intel, with the line later taken over by ASUS. Today the name is often used for mini PCs from other manufacturers as well. The processor, memory and storage fit in a box that can sit behind a monitor.

Can a mini PC replace a full-size desktop?

For many users it can: office work, browsing, video calls and a good number of creative programs run fine on one. A full-size desktop is still the better choice if you need a powerful separate graphics card or plenty of room for upgrades. Mini PCs take up less space and usually draw less power.

How much RAM does a mini PC need?

16 GB is usually enough for office work and browsing. If you edit video, write code or run virtual machines, choose 32 GB or more. Our range includes models that support up to 128 GB of memory.

Do I need to buy a monitor and keyboard with a mini PC?

Yes, mini PCs are normally sold without a monitor, keyboard or mouse. Choose the monitor to match the video ports on the computer, most often HDMI. If the unit has no operating system, you will need to install one yourself.
