How to choose a laptop car charger
Output voltage. It must match the voltage printed on your original power adapter's label. Our range includes 12, 15, 18.5, 19, 19.5 and 20 V models, and laptops most often need between 18.5 and 20 V.
Power and current. The charger's wattage should not be lower than that of your original adapter. We stock chargers from 30 W up to 90 W, with 65 W and 90 W models intended for more demanding laptops. An underpowered charger may not cope with the load, so the laptop charges slowly or not at all.
Connector. The plug must match your laptop's socket in both shape and size. Our range includes 7.4*5.0, 4.5*3.0 and 5.5*2.5 mm plugs, as well as special thin plugs and the Lenovo square type. Compare your original charger's plug with the product description before ordering.
Input voltage. Most passenger cars have a 12 V electrical system, and with the engine running it can reach 14-15 V. Many chargers in our range are rated for 10-15 V, while some accept 12-24 V, which suits lorries and coaches with a 24 V system.
Intended device. Some chargers are made for tablets, receipt printers or label printers rather than laptops. Before buying, check that the product description lists your device or a model from the same manufacturer series.

Frequently asked questions
Can I charge a laptop with a car charger?
Yes, provided the charger's output voltage and plug match your laptop and its wattage is at least that of the original adapter. It plugs into the car's 12 V socket. Some laptops run more slowly or only charge the battery when the charger is underpowered.
How do I find out which charger fits my laptop?
Look at the label on the original power adapter, which states the output voltage (V), current (A) and power (W). These values must match the charger's specifications, and the plug must be the same size. If you are unsure, compare your laptop's model number with the product description.
Can a car charger drain the car battery?
Yes, if it is used for a long time with the engine off. A laptop draws several tens of watts, so the battery can run down quite quickly. It is best to charge while the engine is running.
Will a car charger work in a lorry with a 24 V system?
Only if the charger's input range covers 24 V, for example 12-24 V. Models rated only for 12 V or 10-15 V cannot cope with 24 V and may be damaged. Check the input voltage range before you buy.
