How to choose DDR4 memory
Module type. Desktop PCs and servers use 288-pin DIMM modules, while laptops use 260-pin SO-DIMM. They differ in size and slot, so one cannot replace the other. Most modules in our range are DIMM, but there is a good number of SO-DIMM too.
Capacity and kits. Our range runs from 4 GB to 128 GB per module, with 8 GB and 16 GB the most common. 8 GB is often enough for office work and browsing, 16 GB is more comfortable for gaming and running several programs at once, and video editing or virtual machines call for 32 GB or more. Two-module kits (for example 2 x 8 GB or 2 x 16 GB) let the memory run in dual-channel mode, which increases bandwidth.
Speed and CAS latency. Modules in our range run from 2133 to 3600 MHz, with 2666 and 3200 MHz the most common. You will only benefit from a higher speed if the processor and motherboard support it, otherwise the module runs slower. CAS latency shows how many cycles the memory waits before responding: a lower number is better, but it only makes sense to compare modules of the same speed.
ECC support. ECC memory corrects single-bit data errors and is intended for servers and workstations. Our range includes both ECC and standard modules. Many ordinary desktop motherboards do not support ECC, so check your board or server specification first, and whether registered (RDIMM) modules are required.

Frequently asked questions about DDR4 memory
Can I use DDR4 memory on a DDR5 motherboard?
No. DDR4 and DDR5 modules have a different pin layout and notch position, so they physically do not fit the other type of slot. The motherboard decides which memory type you need, so look for DDR4 in its specification.
How much DDR4 memory does a computer need?
For most home and office computers, 8 GB or 16 GB is enough. Gaming and multitasking are more comfortable with 16 GB, while video editing, virtual machines and large projects justify 32 GB or more. If the motherboard supports dual-channel mode, two identical modules are a better choice than one.
Can I mix DDR4 modules of different speeds?
Usually yes, but all modules will run at the speed of the slowest one. Identical modules or a single kit are the most stable option, because mixed modules can sometimes cause instability. If you are unsure, check the motherboard's compatibility list.
Is ECC memory suitable for a normal PC?
Usually not, because ECC support depends on both the processor and the motherboard, and many ordinary desktops lack it. ECC modules are intended for servers and workstations where avoiding data errors matters. A home computer normally needs standard non-ECC memory.
