How to choose an LGA1851 motherboard
Chipset. Z890 boards allow overclocking of unlocked K-series processors and generally offer the most connectivity and expansion. B860 covers most home and office builds, while H810 is an entry-level chipset with fewer features. Decide first whether you actually plan to overclock the processor.
Form factor. Most boards in our range are ATX or micro ATX, with fewer mini ITX models and only a handful of Extended ATX. Choose the size according to your case: a micro ATX board fits an ATX case, but not the other way round. Mini ITX boards suit small cases, but they usually have fewer memory slots and expansion connectors.
Memory. LGA1851 boards take DDR5 only and do not accept DDR4 modules. The maximum supported capacity in our range runs from 96 to 256 GB, and most models support 256 GB. If you plan to go beyond 64 GB, check the exact specification and the number of memory slots on the board.
M.2 and SATA connectors. The number of M.2 slots in our boards ranges from one to six, and many models have two, three or four. Several NVMe drives help in workstations and with large game libraries. Traditional drives use SATA III connectors: most boards have four, and some have two or six.
Network and audio. Most boards have a single Ethernet (RJ-45) port and some have two, which is useful if you need to keep two networks separate or connect two network devices. Many models offer 7.1-channel audio output. Check Wi-Fi, USB4 and the number of front-panel USB connectors on the specific model.

Which processors fit Intel LGA1851 motherboards?
The LGA1851 socket is designed for Intel Core Ultra 200S desktop processors. Earlier generations, such as the LGA1700 Intel Core 12th, 13th and 14th Gen chips, do not fit. Before buying, check the board manufacturer's list of supported processors and the BIOS version required.
Does an LGA1851 motherboard support DDR4 memory?
No, LGA1851 boards work only with DDR5 memory. DDR4 and DDR5 modules are physically different, so old modules cannot be reused. It is worth including new memory in your budget.
What is the difference between Z890 and B860 motherboards?
Z890 boards allow processor overclocking and usually offer more M.2 slots, fast USB connectors and expansion options. B860 boards are aimed at simpler builds: the processor cannot be overclocked, but memory can. If you do not plan to overclock, B860 is often all you need.
Will an LGA1700 cooler fit an LGA1851 motherboard?
In most cases yes, because the LGA1851 mounting hole spacing matches LGA1700. Even so, check the cooler manufacturer's list of supported sockets. Tall coolers may not clear the memory slots or the side of the case.
